Why is my result lower than other speed tests?
NearSpeed measures against independent M-Lab servers in Europe with a single connection. On very fast lines this shows lower numbers than tests run inside your provider's network. NearSpeed is built to spot slow connections and to compare areas and providers fairly, because everyone is measured the same way.
Why doesn't the app work on my connection?
NearSpeed only works on known consumer internet providers. It does not run on VPNs, data-centre or company networks. Turn off your VPN and try again. If your provider is missing, email us its name.
Do you store my IP address or exact location?
No. See the privacy policy.
How is my provider detected?
From the network your connection belongs to. You cannot change it, which keeps the shared data reliable.
